A few choice pals and I loaded canoes and an old motor boat full of coolers and camping gear and putted our way over to Dorothy Island. The island sits amongst a slough of conifers on Indian Lake in the Adirondacks. Our mornings were filled with campfire breakfasts and waterside puppy hangs, afternoons of hiking and swimming and evenings of sipping and shooting. Although civilization was but a mile back to shore, it felt like we had the whole mountain range to ourselves. Neverland does exist.
